Strengthening the economic, social and political participation of multiply marginalised women in climate hotspots of Bangladesh (short: AGROJATRA) project aims to empower marginalized women affected by climate change in the region to enhance their capacities, improve access to resources, income opportunities, and rights, and actively participate in political dialogue with government authorities. This will enable them and their families to enhance their economic, social, and political participation and protect the rights of marginalized groups. The women-led civil society organisations (CSOs) effectively support their members in accessing resources, achieving low-emission and climate-resilient income and expanding their risk mitigation strategies. They are strengthened as civil society actors to effectively demand and protect the rights of marginalized populations and hold state institutions accountable. Through comprehensive capacity building, the women can bring their perspectives on climate adaptation and climate justice into the political discourse. At the same time, gender-specific advocacy issues important to the direct target group are identified and documented at the micro level, on the basis of which policy recommendations are shared with policymakers and the public. The capacity strengthening of civil society actors and their context-specific application directly contributes to strengthening the civic space, which is classified as 'closed' in Bangladesh.
